Lynch is seeking a staff accountant to work at our Cumberland headquarters. The Staff Accountant will have a general knowledge of accrual accounting and strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The Staff Accountant is responsible for providing day-to-day accounting operations, assisting in month-end close procedures and supporting ad-hoc activities.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Ownership of monthly close, including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Accounts payable ownership; procure-to-pay responsibility for timely processing
  • Assist with billing of accounts receivable, including daily revenue accounting
  • Cash management including daily cash receipts and bank account reconciliation
  • Preparation of quarterly/monthly audit materials as required by regulatory authority
  • Monthly ownership of sales and use tax reporting
  • Payroll responsibility including weekly payroll cycle management

SUMMARY
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other members of the safety department in planning and implementing safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy and accident-free work environment for every employee and subcontractor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Partners with safety personnel and others to drive proper safe behaviors and a strong safety culture. Maximizes opportunities for all projects to drive responsibility and accountability of safety and health concerns to front-line workforce either directly or through the safety personnel.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local safety regulations by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; interpreting standards; enforcing adherence to regulations; advising management on needed actions.
  • Enforces safety policies by ensuring inspections, reporting statistics and counseling employees.
  • Acts as a resource for managers, superintendents, and hourly employees on safety and health issues.
  • Ensures accident investigations are conducted and maintains the appropriate records. Determines actions required to eliminate accident causes and follow up to ensure action is taken.
  • Participate in required trainings for managers and employees, may facilitate training as well.
  • Will be on-call for emergency incident management of a 24/7 workforce.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Performs and develops job safety analysis for specific projects.

QUALIFICATIONS 
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Candidates will be required to successfully pass a post offer drug test.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Discipline or related field preferred along with experience in a safety role.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, MSHA and USDOT regulations.
  • Demonstrated success in improving safety performance and establishing best practices.
  • Experience in the heavy/civil construction industry preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written needed. Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees.Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics needed:
  • Ability to develop and foster relationships and trust at all levels of the organization.
  • Computer skills needed.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Analytical ability and process improvement knowledge.
