Lynch performed surface and safety improvements to over 3 miles of Rhode Island Route 24, a four lane divided highway in Portsmouth, RI.
The four lane divided highway segment of Route 24 from the recently replaced Sakonnet River Bridge to West Main Road in Portsmouth, RI is a critical gateway to Aquidneck Island from the East. By performing surface and safety improvements, Lynch has contributed to maintaining access to a thriving island economy including tourism, manufacturing, and an active military base. One of the challenges of this project was to perform improvements to the pavement structure and subbase while minimizing impacts to the motoring public. Lynch was able to work within the strict traffic management restrictions, often completing repairs to the subbase in a single night shift to maintain continuity in the riding surface. Lynch was able to receive financial incentives for achieving surface rideability, a parameter used to measure the smoothness of the roadway, delivering the project on time and under budget.
